Job Description
Job Summary The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing goods and services that support Client CPDI operations, with a focus on active electrical components, fabricated products, and additional commodities as needed. This role includes managing supplier relationships, driving cost reduction initiatives, improving supply chain resilience, and supporting both production and new product development needs. The position is remote and reports into the CPDI Supply Chain Management team.
Key Responsibilities - Source electrical components, fabricated products, and other commodities required by CPDI operations.
- Drive supplier engagement and performance through regular business reviews.
- Review material shortages and open order reports to manage and assess demand.
- Align CPDI sourcing objectives with corporate commodity management goals.
- Evaluate supplier pricing, scheduling, and plan future orders, including emergency spot buys.
- Perform cost savings analyses and execute cost reduction initiatives or mitigate increases.
- Identify and develop new sources for materials when production suppliers are unable to meet service demands.
- Collaborate with engineering on material revisions, changes, and new product releases.
- Partner with Sr. Buyers across divisions to strengthen supplier capabilities.
- Investigate and resolve supplier-related Accounts Payable issues.
- Assess supply chain risks and implement actions to ensure resiliency during market disruptions.
- Provide forecasts and develop purchasing strategies to support business needs while managing vendor risk.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience.
- Proficiency with digital technology and procurement processes.
- Working knowledge of MRP/Material Planning Systems (SAP required).
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Ability to work remotely; relocation assistance is not provided.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP system expertise.
- CPIM or CPM certification.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications.
Certifications (if any) - CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) – Preferred
- CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) – Preferred
