Construction Superintendent - Central Vermont
Role Description
Under the direct supervision of the General Superintendent the Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and quality control of subcontractors and craft personnel for multiple job site operations. Ensuring the safety and well-being of employees at project sites.
General Responsibilities
• Supervision and coordination of subcontractors, direct hire craftspeople and job site operations for job order contracts in accordance with Jewett’s Superintendent Manual
• Ability to review and provide input on project scope of work and development
• Assist with the establishment and maintenance of project schedules including start, progress, and completion schedules
• Completion of (3) three-week look ahead schedules weekly
• Responsible for scheduling and leadership of subcontractor weekly coordination meetings
• Control all job site operations for compliance with contract requirements, noise and dust control, non-interruption of Owner activities and utility shutdown procedures
• Provide daily safety awareness and inspections to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel at the job sites
• Provide job site quality control checks to ensure the construction and materials are in accordance with project documents and Owner standards
• Preparation and submittal of accurate, detailed, electronic daily reports for the project and post reports in project management software, Procore
• Working with the Project Manager, to prepare agenda and hold job progress meetings with subcontractors to coordinate project progress with minutes distributed to all parties
• Responsible for scheduling all project activities in compliance with project schedule timelines
• Maintenance of punch list management and project closeout requirements
• Ensure compliance with Jewett’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) and all local requirements (OSHA)
• Responsible for notifying supervisor if a safety infraction is observed
• Maintenance of records for site personnel such as daily field reports, fields orders, RFIs, and daily project photos
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, team based working environment
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field plus a minimum of (5) five years’ experience or a minimum of (10) ten years related experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor
• OSHA 30 Safety Course Certification, Red Cross First Aid, and CPR Certification is preferred but not required
• Proficient with scheduling software, and CAE and CAD applications
• Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents
• Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel
• Ability to read/write and communicate in English
• Ability to function well in very busy situations
• Responsible and reliable
• Positive attitude and work ethic.
• Ability to interact appropriately with a variety of individuals including but not limited to coworkers, supervisors, clients
• Ability to remember and understand verbal and written instructions
• Self-starter with a team player attitude, comfortable both taking initiative and working in collaboration

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
• Ability to work off-hours including weekends as needed and directed by General Superintendent
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work & Travel
This is a full-time position and may frequently require long hours and weekend work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
