Estimator / Project Engineer – Heavy Construction, Highways, Roads

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Salary: $100,000 + Bens

One of Carolina's fastest-growing construction groups are looking for an Estimator that ideally has industry experience across Heavy Construction, Civil, Highways / Roadways that can also turn their hand to Project work in a hybrid role.

My client has offices multiple offices across both North & South Carolina, that was formed over 30 years ago and performs work both as a GC and subcontractor, from small projects to large multi-phase commercial & private projects.

Responsibilities:

• Subcontractor Pay Estimates: Review and verify subcontractor pay estimates before presenting them to management for approval.
• Owner’s Pay Estimates: Review the owner’s pay estimate before management approval, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Cost Report Management: Supervise and manage project cost reports, leading regular review meetings to track financial performance.
• CPM Management: Oversee project Critical Path Method scheduling, leading regular review meetings to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
• Document Control: Manage the project document control system, ensuring accurate and timely tracking of documents and project correspondence.
• Issue Resolution: Identify potential issues early and collaborate with the team to develop effective solutions to keep projects on track.
• Project Reviews: Prepare all necessary information and materials for presentation during project review meetings.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, specifically in heavy/highway construction, with a proven track record on projects over $20 million.
• Technical Expertise: Experience with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and all other highway construction scopes.
• Software Proficiency: JDEdwards experience preferred; strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
