Trident Consulting is seeking a “Field Service Engineer (FSE)" for one of our clients. A global leader in business and technology services.

Job Title: Field Service Engineer (FSE) – Water Treatment Systems

Location: Alexandria, VA (Richmond, VA Area)

Contract W2

Work Hours: 40 hours/week | Monday–Friday | 8 hours/day

Pay Rate: $31.00 – $33.00 per hour on W2 (All inclusive)

Travel: 10%–60% (depending on territory coverage)

Position Overview

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for the installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and qualification of water purification systems across assigned customer sites. This position requires technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The role involves on-site service, documentation, and supporting other regional territories as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water purification systems in compliance with company standards.
• Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) , system validations/qualifications , and address service requests promptly (response window: 24 hours–2 weeks).
• Complete all Work Orders and service documentation accurately and daily.
• Provide detailed service reports , meter verification, and maintenance documentation to customers.
• Manage and maintain accurate consignment inventory , tools, and test equipment.
• Generate leads for hardware, consumables, and service contracts using the CRM tool .
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams, maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Support custom system installations under supervision of the manager or engineering team.
• Submit bi-weekly expense reports and adhere to company Fleet Vehicle Policy .
• Meet all customer site requirements including vendor credentialing, background checks, and health verifications.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Associate's degree in electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent Technical degree).
• OR High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of field service or skilled trade experience.
• Minimum 1 year of field service experience, preferably in water treatment systems .
• Proficiency with tools and test equipment (power tools, meters, qualification boxes, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic IT skills for equipment interface, data uploads, and use of mobile tools (iPad/iPhone).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and 165 lbs with assistance .
• Clean driving record and ability to travel overnight as required (domestic/international).

Flexibility to work outside normal business hours including weekends/holidays for emergency service.
