Job Title: Reading Specialist Contract Length: 10 months Reports To: Principal Supervises: Primary Role: The ideal candidate will support, supplement, and extend classroom teaching. The Reading Specialist is expected to work collaboratively with teachers to implement a quality reading program that is research and data-based. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English North Carolina Teaching Certificate Minimum of six years teaching experience in elementary school Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities: Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices Create, plan, and teach a rigorous curriculum while meeting the needs of a diverse student population Provide small groups of staff development as needed Assist teachers in planning an appropriate individual intervention program Model reading instruction in classrooms Assist teachers in assessing students for appropriate instruction Effectively and consistently communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.
