Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Pay Rate: $26 - $33/hr DOE
Location: Humble, TX 77396
No. of Positions Available: 4
Four Shifts Available:
1) Weekday Day Shift (Mon-Thur, 5AM to 5PM): 40 REG hours + 9 OT hours
2) Weekday Night Shift (Mon-Thur, 5PM to 5AM): 40 REG hours + 9 OT hours + night bonus fo $1.50/hr
3) Weekend Day Shift (Fri-Sun), 5AM to 5PM): 36 REG hours + weekend bonus of $2.00/hr
4) Weekend Night Shift (Fri-Sun), 5PM to 5AM): 36 REG hours + weekend bonus of $2.00/hr + night bonus of $1.50/hr

Overview

Execute the scheduled activities of the preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance plan to ensure equipment efficiency. Ensure the proper functioning of equipment in order to meet the production schedule. The diversity of equipment requires broad knowledge to handle preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance work orders.

Job Duties

• Execute mechanical maintenance work orders to avoid unexpected downtimes.
• Perform high-risk maintenance tasks (at heights, hot work, hazardous energy, confined spaces, etc.) in compliance with established safety standards to prevent accidents.
• Carry out repairs on critical equipment to prevent unplanned downtimes that may affect production.
• Report work orders in the SAP system, maintenance module, to document shift events and update the database.
• Service standby equipment in operational condition to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations in the performance of daily work tasks.
• Know, understand, and comply with the regulations of the Integrated Management System applicable to the areas where you work, including work instructions and procedures related to quality, environment, safety, occupational health, and BASC security.
• If you observe any worker, whether within or outside your area, not complying with the regulations of the Integrated Management System, you must first request compliance. If the worker does not accept your suggestion, report the situation to your management.
• Before performing any task, you must identify hazards and assess risks. If you detect that your physical integrity, health, or life is at risk, do not proceed with the task and immediately inform your direct supervisor, so that the necessary additional safety measures can be taken to control the hazard or risk.
• Carry out or participate in projects, responsibilities, functions, representations, and tasks assigned by your immediate supervisor, provided they are within your capabilities.
• Recommend equipment lockout due to electrical failures
• Propose mechancial spare parts to ensure proper equipment operation

 

Required Qualifications

• Must be Bilingual English / Spanish
• Candidate must possess a passport or be able to obtain quickly for travel outside of USA.
• Candiates must be able to attend a 2-3 week training program in Lima, Peru at the beginning of their employment
• Experience in performing mechanical maintenance in metallurgical industrial plants or similar industrial / manufacturing plant environments
• 2+ years experience as electrical maintenance technician in industrial or manufacturing plant
• Knowledge in bearing maintenance is preferred
• Technical education in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance or related field is preferred

 

Risks

• Physical Risks: Continuous industrial noise, high temperature, vibration.
• Chemical Risks: Exposure to dust, fumes, and liquids (sulfuric acid, cyanide, caustic soda, buffer).
• Ergonomic Risks: Standing work, manual handling of loads, load transportation, repetitive movements, work at structural height, and confined spaces.
• Psychosocial Risks: Rotating work shifts
