Job Title: Mental Therapy Aide – Day Shift

Location: Syracuse or Ithaca, NY

Duration: 13 Weeks

Pay Rate: $28/hour

Shift: Day Shift (includes every other weekend and some holidays)

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking compassionate and motivated Mental Therapy Aides to support behavioral health and mental health units in a clinical setting. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in patient care, especially in inpatient or psychiatric environments. The position provides an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team environment focused on patient wellness and therapeutic support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care activities under the supervision of nursing staff

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms or therapy sessions

• Assist during exams and procedures, including preparation of materials and equipment

• Take and record vital signs and observe patient behavior and responses to care

• Support the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic environment for patients

• Help with general administrative duties such as chart preparation, appointment coordination, and reception tasks

• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas

• Coordinate care activities as directed by the supervising nurse or clinician

• Engage in therapeutic interactions that support patient treatment goals

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a clinical or behavioral health setting preferred

• Ability to obtain or maintain current CPR certification

• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems preferred

• Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills

• Flexibility to work alternating weekends and select holidays
