What you’ll accomplish:

The Music and Arts Director will be responsible for creating, curating, and managing a diverse and inclusive arts and entertainment program that serves the community. This role requires an innovative leader with a strong educational background in music or arts and significant experience collaborating with diverse professionals in the music and arts industry. The Director will develop a variety of cultural and artistic experiences, from weekly performances to large-scale events, and will focus on promoting local talent and multicultural engagement within the community.

Responsibilities:

• Program Development & Management
  • Design, implement, and oversee weekly, monthly, and seasonal entertainment programs, including music performances, art exhibitions, workshops, and cultural festivals that reflect the diversity of the community.
  • Develop a grassroots talent platform that provides local artists an opportunity to perform and gain exposure, with a particular focus on the Sunday Market performances.
  • Plan large-scale signature events that highlight diverse cultural and artistic traditions.
  • Ensure a balanced mix of events, including live music, theater, visual arts, dance, and film screenings.
• Community Engagement & Collaboration
  • Engage with local artists, educators, community members, and organizations to foster a vibrant and inclusive arts community.
  • Create partnerships with schools, colleges, and arts organizations to provide educational workshops, performances, and enrichment programs.
  • Work closely with community leaders to assess and respond to residents’ interests and cultural needs, integrating feedback into future programming.
• Budget & Financial Oversight
  • Manage the department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality programming.
  • Identify potential sponsorships, grants, and funding opportunities to support and expand programming.
  • Oversee contracts, permits, and logistics for all events to ensure compliance and maintain quality standards.
• Diversity & Inclusion Focus
  • Develop and execute programs that celebrate and respect cultural diversity, with inclusive events featuring various musical genres, artistic styles, and global perspectives.
  • Ensure representation of underrepresented communities in the arts and prioritize working with diverse artists, performers, and vendors.
  • Promote the arts as a vehicle for cultural understanding and community cohesion.
• Educational Programming & Outreach
  • Develop and implement educational programs in collaboration with local schools, targeting children, teens, and adults, to foster an appreciation for music, dance, theater, and visual arts.
  • Host workshops, lectures, and discussions with professional artists to provide insights and skill-building opportunities for community members.
  • Offer mentorship opportunities for emerging artists within the community, providing guidance on professional development in the arts.

What we’re looking for:

• Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in music, Arts Administration, Performing Arts, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background in arts education or educational program management is highly desirable.
• Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in arts or entertainment program management, preferably within a community-focused or nonprofit setting.
  • Proven experience collaborating with diverse professionals in the music, performing arts, and visual arts industries.
• Skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with experience managing multiple events and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with artists, residents, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and pursuing funding opportunities.
  • Passionate about arts advocacy, diversity, and building inclusive community spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with multicultural organizations or programming for diverse audiences.
• Established network within the music, arts, and cultural communities in Florida or the Southeastern U.S.
• Knowledge of current trends in arts and entertainment, with a particular focus on community-based programs.

If driving is, or becomes, a requirement of the role, it is required, at all times, that you hold a valid state driver’s license for the class of vehicle you are driving, maintain a clean motor vehicle report, and hold current automobile insurance at statutory limits. You must notify People Operations immediately regarding any change to your motor vehicle standing. CCMC may periodically review motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with these requirements.

The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:

• Mobility: Ability to walk the grounds long distances in various weather conditions.
• Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifting and carrying supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Extended Sitting or Standing: Capability to sit or stand for extended periods during meetings or events.
• Manual Dexterity: Skills in using technology, including computers and mobile devices.
• Driving: Ability to operate vehicle to perform certain job functions. (Please note: We will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
