Job Description

Contract: Full time & Part time

Shift hours: 7.5 hours daily; start/end time based on school assignment(s) frangin from 7AM to 4PM

Hourly rate: $35.00

Position Overview:
The Occupational Therapist will deliver evidence-based therapy services to students, collaborating with educational teams to assess, develop, and implement individualized therapy plans. This role requires expertise in school-based therapy practices, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population across multiple school environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessments and Evaluations

  • Complete screenings and respond to "Request for Therapy Assistance" as requested by the educational team.
  • Administer and interpret assessments to evaluate students' functional skill levels.
  • Generate and present written reports for initial evaluations, reevaluations, and annual progress updates at IEP meetings.
  • Establish and update students' goals and benchmarks in accordance with Special Education guidelines.

Service Delivery

  • Provide educationally relevant therapy services to assigned caseload.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, IEP meetings, and community appointments for students as necessary.
  • Ensure proper fitting and safe usage of equipment for students, conducting regular safety checks.
  • Maintain an organized, collaborative work area.

Program Administration and Management

  • Prepare and manage a weekly therapy schedule efficiently.
  • Update and maintain student caseload records in departmental databases.
  • Maintain complete, organized student files and document attendance and progress.
  • Request necessary equipment and materials and maintain an updated inventory of supplies.
  • Complete required service tracking and time study documentation.

Consultation

  • Provide in-service training and relevant information for teachers, staff, and parents.
  • Deliver written consultation reports and classroom programs tailored to individual student needs.
  • Foster a positive atmosphere for problem-solving and collaboration.

Professional Development and Responsibilities

  • Represent Therapy Services professionally and knowledgeably.
  • Complete and review annual professional development plans with the Department Supervisor.
  • Attend and actively contribute to departmental staff meetings.
  • Participate in at least two departmental or district committees.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain effective working relationships.

General Duties

  • Monitor and address student behavior concerns, including bullying or distress, reporting issues as needed.
  • Adapt to various environments such as classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds.
  • Work in fast-paced settings with occasional unscheduled interruptions.
  • Perform occasional physical tasks, including stooping, bending, lifting, or carrying objects.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a valid Illinois State professional license in Occupational Therapy.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of students.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and self-motivation.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capacity for prolonged sitting or standing and occasional manual handling of heavy objects.
  • Experience working across various school levels, including Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School.
