Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PhD level Structural Biologist with expertise in protein crystallography and / or cryoEM. A strong candidate will possess a background in the field of structural biology and will use this expertise to generate data, interpret structures and provide valuable insights to advance Takeda’s drug discovery programs. A successful candidate will work with internal and external teams to execute structure-based efforts and protein production requirements as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to progress Takeda’s pipeline. The successful candidate will: Plan and execute gene-to-structure projects and generate target co-complex structures with small molecules and/or biologic proteins using in-house equipment and software and / or contract research organizations Analyze proprietary and public structural information to positively impact computational and medicinal chemistry efforts and/or antibody design, optimization and characterization Work collaboratively on pipeline projects with an interdisciplinary team (biologists, medicinal and computational chemists, in vitro and in vivo pharmacologists, informatics scientists, DMPK, project management) Utilize, support and build upon the capabilities of in-house hardware, software and database resources and engage productively with external structural biology and protein chemistry contract research organizations to achieve project and department goals Clearly communicate structural data, interpretation and insights to diverse audiences including structural biology group, project teams, department colleagues and senior leadership. Desired qualifications include: PhD degree in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry/Enzymology, Protein Chemistry or a related field, MS with 6+ years or BS with 8+ years industry experience also considered Demonstrated track record of structure determination using crystallography and / or cryoEM; experience with large protein complexes and / or small molecule / protein complexes highly desirable Experience utilizing crystallographic, cryoEM and / or modeling software packages that may include CCP4, HKL2000/3000, PHENIX, COOT, CryoSparc, Relion, ChimeraX, Schrodinger software, PSILO Extensive knowledge of and experience in protein production including construct design/protein engineering, protein expression systems (bacterial, insect, mammalian systems), protein purification techniques and protein characterization methods Experience with both crystallography and cryo-EM methods for data collection and structure determination, biophysical techniques (SPR, ITC, DLS, etc), crystallization automation capabilities, membrane protein production and characterization and / or CRO management is highly desirable Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. For Location: Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range: $108,500.00 - $170,500.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
