Job Title: Shipping and receiving associate

Job Description

We are looking for an organized and efficient warehouse associate to manage receiving, storage, and distribution of materials as well as maintain accurate records of inventory. Our ideal candidate is attentive, energetic, and hardworking.

Responsibilities

• Record inventory data manually or on a computer or handheld electronic device
• Document discrepancies between inventory records and physical counts of stock
• Receive, count, and verify incoming orders
• Label stock items with labeling equipment such as identification tags or stamps
• Pack and unpack items for storage in stockroom or warehouse
• Process shipping requests
• Distribute products or materials to laydown areas, shelves or production workers
• Report malfunctioning or damaged stock-handling equipment to supervisor
• Maintain accurate records of contracts, purchase orders, and requisitions
• Keep the stock room neat and orderly
• Inventory stock of materials, supplies, parts, and merchandise

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED required
• Able to speak, read, and write in English
• Minimum of six months’ experience in stocking and shipping
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal communication
• Written and oral comprehension skills
• Able to complete tasks with little to no direct supervision
• Able to work quickly and accurately in a complex, fast-moving environment
• Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Physically capable of routinely bending to lift and move items up to 50 pounds
• Basic working knowledge of computers
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office

The current warehouse supervisor started in the warehouse 2 years ago. They are looking to add more assembly lines and for a bigger warehouse space so they will need to add more workers which will also create more leadership opportunities. They are a close knit team and do a lot of lunch for the team once a month and Fridays, holiday parties, potlucks, etc.

Work Environment

Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM. The work environment includes a fast-paced warehouse setting with a focus on inventory control, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Employees are expected to maintain a neat and orderly stock room, and dress in appropriate work attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bowie, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
