Description

At The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, our dedication to exceptional service and culinary excellence sets us apart. We are seeking a Sommelier with a passion for wine and an enthusiasm for providing outstanding service. This role will be instrumental in enhancing our wine program and ensuring an unforgettable dining experience for our members and guests.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively work the floor during service hours, focusing on beverage sales and upselling at every opportunity.
  • Maintain a high level of service quality, including body language, eye contact, and appropriate verbiage, to positively enhance the member experience.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of all wine, beer, spirits, specialty cocktails, teas, sodas, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of all decanters, wine stations, and beverage storage areas.
  • Participate in opening and closing procedures as necessary.
  • Provide exceptional service at all times to all members.
  • Respond to member inquiries, offering assistance, directions, and information as needed.
  • Assist in all aspects of service to support team members.
  • Attend all food and beverage training sessions and daily pre-shifts /communication meetings.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage to effectively service and upsell our products, including liquors and cocktails.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develop our wine list and maintain wine inventory, including receiving, stocking, and determining pars for wines by the glass and pairing selections.
  • Create a welcoming environment for all guests, maintaining excellence and cleanliness.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of wine offerings, suggest beverage pairings, and collaborate with culinary and beverage teams on selections.
  • Lead and participate in staff wine classes and educational opportunities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area and seating area.
  • Foster a supportive, energetic, and authentic environment for both guests and team members.
  • Train new team members on wine program policies and procedures.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
  • Safe, prudent, and organized work habits.
  • In-depth knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
  • Ability to relate to all levels of guests and management.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position or appropriate certification.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
