Advance Media New York, publisher of syracuse.com and NYup.com, is searching for a prolific content producer with a knack for identifying trending topics and turning around well-structured, timely aggregations and stories. This person will write several articles a day to quickly capitalize on trending topics, ranging from lighthearted to serious, in news, sports and entertainment.

Candidates should be organized, competitive and detail-oriented with a terrific work ethic. It’s also important that they are familiar with SEO best practices. After training, candidates should be able to track and understand key metrics to ensure content is performing as expected.

This is a remote position that will include weekend work.

· Strong organizational skills and poise to handle multiple tasks at once

· Ability to work a flexible schedule

Required education, experience and skills

· Degree in journalism, English or communications, or related field preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience

· Some experience building, maintaining and engaging an active audience

· Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately

· Proven reporting, writing and organizational skills

· Solid understanding of news writing, journalism ethics and story structure

· Experience with search engine optimization practices

· Experience using social media to source and promote content

· Demonstrated capability in capitalizing on high-value topics by engaging audiences in frequency and urgency

· Basic understanding of video editing and willingness to learn more

· Ability to work independently and remotely
