Overview This position requires the ability to drive a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). May load and unload vehicle as required. Requires commercial drivers’ license. Responsibilities Greets customers with respect and courtesy. Keeps up to date with the product inventory and its functionality. Asks questions and provides relevant information to customers, records orders, and provides excellent customer service. Inspect vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Follow safety procedures for transporting goods and inspect loads to ensure cargo is secure. Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers. Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and verifying positioning of the vehicle and loading equipment. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicle. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required. Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verify instructions and routes. Operate equipment such as truck cab computer, cellular phones, driver cameras, and GPS to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. Load or unload trucks or assist with loading/unloading as needed with appropriate equipment. Maintain proficiency in all organizational safe work policies and practices. Perform other driver-related duties as assigned. Adhere to company policies and work requirements. Required Skills/Abilities Ability to read, write, understand, and relay written and verbal instructions. Ability to operate available equipment, such as calculators and scanners. Basic mathematical skills to make change and refunds as needed. Knowledge of the company’s products, services, and customer-related policies. Must have a class C license and required endorsements for the position. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of on-the-job training. Two years of related experience preferred. Physical Requirements Must be in adequate physical condition to perform duties that require mental, physical, and manual dexterity, including hand/grip strength, depth perception, and compliance with safety regulations. Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly. Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when handling materials or operating equipment. Other Requirements Must maintain a valid commercial driver's license and driving record that meets the organization’s safe driving standards.
