Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Welding Inspector ~ without more than normal supervision. Performing inspections on a variety of fabricated subassemblies, storage trailers, brackets, and/or mounts used in electronics equipment systems. Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, demonstrating proper work processes, utilizing quality standards. Operating measuring instruments such as scale dividers, surface gauges, steel squares, and/or micrometers. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Requires light to moderate lifting of tools and metal parts; frequent standing and walking. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop environments associated with the welding, sheet metal and machine tool trades or at nearby inspection stations. Exposed to loud noises from shop machines, possible cuts from handling metal parts. Chance of eye injury from flying metal chips and arc welding. Required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear.
