SEEKING: Village Theatre is holding an open call for adult dancers of all genders 18 and over to play 20s-30s with STRONG BALLET TECHNIQUE who can sing for principal and chorus roles in the musical Brigadoon. While all dancers should have strong ballet technique, we are seeking dancers from the ballet, jazz, and modern worlds. Auditioners will be taught a ballet combination and will learn a short song in a group.
Especially seeking male-identifying dancers with strong technique and athletic style.
THINGS TO BRING:
- Be prepared to dance barefoot or with ballet slippers or jazz shoes (no jazz sneakers, no pointe, no hard- or black-soled shoes, no heels)
- Headshot/resume
- no music needed – you will be taught a short song at the audition
PAID OPPORTUNITY:
Principal or Supporting Role in a Musical (AEA Contracts): $980/wk
Chorus in a Musical (AEA Contracts): $920/wk
(Please note that you do not need to be a member of AEA to audition)
External Understudy (NON-AEA Contracts): $880/wk for rehearsals, $450/wk on call, $100/performance, $20/hr post-opening rehearsal rate
REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE DATES:
Issaquah rehearsals/performances: August 12-October 19, 2025
Everett performances: October 24-November 16, 2025 (possible extension until 11/23/25)
this production rehearses in Issaquah and then has performances in both Issaquah and Everett

Character Breakdown Jean MacLaren: Female, 20s, alto/mezzo, strong ballet dancer, shy and madly in love she is in deep anticipation of how her life will change after marriage, featured dancer.
Harry Beaton: Male, 20s, baritone, strong athletic ballet dancer, a dark soul but not a villain, trapped in Brigadoon and tortured by his unrequited love, featured dancer.
Female, 20s, alto/mezzo, strong ballet soloist with emotional gravitas, a kind soul who is smitten with Harry Beaton, featured dancer.
Any gender, 20s-30s, all voice types, strong dancers who play market sellers, sword dancers, and townsfolk. Specifically seeking male-identifying dancers with strong technique and athletic style.
