This is an overnight assistant position which we are a cage free boarding facility for dogs. This means we do not put dogs in kennels like a traditional boarding facilty would. Our dogs roam freely and there are trundle beds and dog beds around the facility for the dogs to sleep on. We have a lead overnight attendant and an assistant every night. If there are less than 20 dogs the assistant will not be called into work but will be paid $50.00 for being on the schedule even if they did not work. If there is over 20 dogs the assistant will be called in and their job is to watch the dogs in the yard while the lead is taking on the responsiblity of most the cleaning and feeding duties. The lead will give you direction on what you will do but mainly you are to keep the yards safe and spotless so they are not walking through messes. If a dog goes to the bathroom or makes any mess it is your job to clean it up quickly and efficiently keeping the dogs clean and safe during your shift. This particular Assistant shift is for the Saturday night shift from 8:00pm to 3:00am and Sunday night at 9:00pm to Monday morning at 6:00am. Our weekend shifts are usually very busy so it will be rare you won't work a Saturday shift. Sunday shifts are a coin toss if you will actually need to come in or not but you will know at noon the day of your scheduled shift. All dogs are requried to be checked in by noon unless they were given special approval to check in later. You must not be fearful of groups of dogs as we can have from 20 to 80 dogs a night. Our daycare shift keeps the dogs very active and busy so they are tired at the end of the night and want to sleep. If there are fearful or shy dogs you need to comfort and help ease the fear of these dogs into boarding with us. We do requrie passion for dogs to be hired for any of our positions here not just like dogs but you need to be passionate about them. We pickup up with poop bags and follow up with spray and rags and for urine we use the rags and spray and a dry rag to clean up. It is critical our yards are spotless and sanitary for these dogs. We want every attendant to treat every dog here how they would expect their own dog treated. You must be able to read body language and know how to defuse a altercation in the making. If one just breaks out you need to be fearless and run into the fire instead of away from them or worse just stand there waving your arms. Every altercation that happens here is preventable because all these dogs go through a temperament test and we rule out aggression, prey drive and resourse guarding so as long as you know what you are looking for and jump into defusing it right away nothing will really break out. We must have responsible and aware attendants on this shift at all times. If you don't know how to read dogs body language and how to break up a fight worst case this is not the position for you. It is rare there is any altercation but there are just two of you working and the Lead Attendant must have someone they know can handle the dogs to work with.
