Job Description

Clinical Nurse – Non-Operating Room Recovery Unit Joining the Non-Operating Room Recovery Unit at MD Anderson means supporting high-acuity patients in a fast-paced, post-procedural environment where adaptability, clinical excellence, and teamwork are essential. Nurses in this role contribute to critical recovery care across P3 and PACU units, helping patients transition safely and compassionately. Minimum qualification: two years of nursing experience in critical care settings such as the ICU, PACU, telemetry, or the emergency room. Candidates must demonstrate strong teamwork, adaptability, and a high level of professional conduct. The ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage time efficiently is essential. A positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills are key attributes for success in this role. Full-time shift position includes a rotating schedule of: 2x12‑hour shifts (10:00 AM – 10:30 PM) 2x8‑hour shifts (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) Weekend and on‑call coverage required Shift assignments will be finalized based on institutional needs. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing. Work Experience Preferred: Two years of nursing experience in critical care settings such as the ICU, PACU, telemetry, or the emergency room. Licenses and Certifications Required: RN – Registered Nurse – State licensure, current State of Texas professional nursing license. Upon hire. Required: ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Upon hire. Required: PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support. If working in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (600160). Upon hire. Preferred: OCN – Oncology Nurse Certification. Upon hire. Preferred: Certification in specialty practice area. Upon hire. Other Requirements: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. It may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, and may require routine reviews and screening.
