Underwriter: High Value Home (Personal Lines Insurance)

Job Responsibilities:

• Reporting to Chief Underwriting Officer lead the development and implementation of LightSpeed’s High Value Home program
• Provide expertise in insurance product design, pricing, underwriting criteria, inspection requirements, and policy contract (this is not a position related to loans or lending for high value homes)
• Work with IT teams to implement insurance product within core policy administration system; design, QA, testing, reports
• Analyze inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, etc to accept or reject new/renewal property and casualty business.
• Maintain underwriting manuals/guidelines and ensure compliance
• Obtain competitor data and monitor product and know who the competition is and where our markets fit
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with territory managers
• Assist CUO on other tasks as assigned

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with California High Value Home property; demonstrable track record of multi-year profitable performance
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong analytical skills, including ability to use Excel for own analysis, and produce queries as needed from databases
• Experience developing and implementing insurance product underwriting guidelines, rating plan features, and forms
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to create Powerpoint decks at a professional level

Education and Work Experience:

• 5 to 10 years of insurance underwriting experience, with significant experience in California property
• Undergraduate degree
