Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trading Operations Lead to oversee and optimize the trading operations function. In this leadership role, you will manage a team responsible for the smooth execution of trades, ensuring efficient settlement processes, maintaining trading systems, and driving operational improvements. You will work closely with the trading desk, risk management, compliance, and technology teams to ensure seamless trading operations and resolve any issues that arise during the trading lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership and Management:

• Lead, mentor, and manage the trading operations team to ensure high performance and professional development.

• Set objectives, track progress, and manage day-to-day operations for optimal trade execution and operational efficiency.

• Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

2. Trade Execution and Monitoring:

• Oversee the real-time execution of trades, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Troubleshoot and resolve trade execution issues, coordinating with traders and other teams to confirm trades and resolve discrepancies.

• Maintain oversight of trading orders and processes to ensure proper handling of complex trade scenarios.

3. Transaction Settlement and Clearing:

• Manage and oversee the settlement of trades, ensuring timely post-trade activities such as clearing and reconciliation.

• Coordinate with clearinghouses, counterparties, and brokers to resolve settlement issues and discrepancies.

• Ensure accurate and complete trade documentation.

4. Risk and Compliance Oversight:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies in trading operations.

• Work closely with the compliance and risk management teams to support audits, identify risks, and implement solutions to mitigate operational risks.

• Review operational procedures to ensure that all processes adhere to internal control standards.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of trading data to provide insights into trading performance and operational efficiency.

• Develop and deliver regular reports to senior management, highlighting key performance metrics and trends.

• Use data to identify areas for operational improvement and implement process optimizations.

6. System Maintenance and Enhancement:

• Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of trading systems, ensuring they are functioning efficiently.

• Collaborate with technology teams to troubleshoot technical issues and implement improvements or new systems.

• Assist with system upgrades and testing to ensure optimal platform performance.

7. Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., compliance, finance, risk management, technology) to ensure smooth operational workflows.

• Liaise with external counterparties, brokers, and liquidity providers to address trade-related issues or inquiries.

• Act as a key point of contact for cross-functional teams regarding operational matters.

8. Process Improvement and Efficiency:

• Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce trade processing times.

• Identify and implement best practices in trading operations to drive scalability and efficiency.

• Evaluate and implement new tools or technologies to enhance operations and ensure scalability.

Key Requirements:

1. Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Series 7, CFA, etc.) are a plus.

2. Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in trading operations or financial services, with a focus on leadership and process optimization.

• Experience with various financial products (e.g., equities, options, futures) and comprehensive knowledge of settlement processes.

• Strong background in using trading platforms, order management systems (OMS), and post-trade settlement systems.

3. Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a team.

• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Excellent understanding of financial markets, trading products, and operational risk management.

• Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools; experience with Python, SQL, or other programming languages is a plus.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively across teams.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
