Transportation Safety Manager

The Lindy Group | Pittsburgh, PA Region

Build your career with a company that puts safety first.

The Lindy Group - a recognized leader in heavy civil, infrastructure, and transportation construction - is seeking a Transportation Safety Manager to champion our commitment to the highest safety standards across our fleet and operations. This is a key opportunity to make a real impact by shaping driver safety, reducing risk, and fostering a culture where every employee goes home safely every day.

What You'll Do

As a Transportation Safety Manager, you'll work directly with our operations and fleet teams to promote and sustain safe driving behaviors across the company. You'll be hands-on, analytical, and people-focused - supporting drivers, supervisors, and managers in identifying risks, coaching performance, and creating proactive safety programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Operations to uphold safety standards and minimize risks across all transportation activities.

  • Monitor and review dash cam video events to identify unsafe driving behaviors and potential risks.

  • Analyze safety data and trends to drive coaching priorities and performance improvements.

  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions and group training to improve driving performance.

  • Assist managers and supervisors in implementing corrective actions and follow-up.

  • Maintain detailed records of safety incidents, coaching sessions, and training completions.

  • Develop and deliver customized safety training and driver development programs.

  • Track fleet performance trends and share actionable insights to enhance overall safety.

  • Recognize and reward proactive "Stop Work" actions and innovative safety practices.

  • Lead investigations of vehicle or safety incidents and communicate lessons learned.

  • Support consistent implementation of safety programs and best practices company-wide.

  • Assist in managing driver qualification (DQ) files and regulatory documentation.

  • Conduct safety meetings and trainings for supervisory staff.

What You Bring

We're looking for a strong communicator, team player, and leader who's passionate about building a safer workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field preferred.

  • Proven knowledge of Transportation Safety practices and DOT compliance.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to identify hazards and drive immediate corrective action.

  • Experience leading training, coaching sessions, and safety meetings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.

  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Commitment to fostering an engaged, safety-first culture across all teams.
