SAFETY MANAGER

Location:
- Food Factory: 1850 Raymer Ave., Fullerton, CA 92833. This facility operates 7 days a week.
Responsibilities:
The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs across our food manufacturing plants in USA and Canada. This role will lead the safety strategy, ensure compliance with local and federal regulations, and drive initiatives to create a safe working environment. The Safety Manager will focus on reducing incident rates and workers’ compensation claims, and fostering a culture of safety across all locations.
- Safety Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a company-wide safety risk management strategy tailored to the needs of Bento’s manufacturing facilities in both USA and Canada.
- Create and enforce standardized safety policies, procedures, and training programs across all plants.
- Compliance and Regulatory Management:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations in the USA and provincial regulations in Canada.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and address compliance gaps.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving safety regulations and standards in both regions.
- Incident Management and Reporting:
- Oversee incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Develop and maintain centralized tracking systems for safety metrics, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance indicators, including incident rates, near-misses, and corrective actions.
- Training and Employee Engagement:
- Design and deliver safety training programs tailored to specific operational needs, including high-risk areas and specialized equipment.
- Lead the development of safety onboarding programs for new hires and continuous training for existing employees.
- Foster a culture of safety through regular communication, awareness campaigns, and engagement initiatives.
- Cross-Border Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with Commissary managers, People Operations, and Operations teams in both countries to align safety initiatives with operational goals.
- Coordinate cross-border safety initiatives and share best practices to ensure consistent safety practices across all facilities.
- Serve as the key point of contact for safety-related matters in both USA and Canada.
- Workers’ Compensation and Risk Management:
- Work closely with People Operations to manage workers’ compensation claims, focusing on reducing incidents and controlling premium costs.
- Lead initiatives to proactively manage safety risks, with a focus on injury prevention and reducing lost-time incidents.
- Health and Safety Committees:
- Lead and participate in health and safety committees across all locations, ensuring active engagement and compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with People Operations and Commissary management to ensure safety initiatives are fully integrated into the company’s operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in safety management, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), or similar safety certifications preferred.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, provincial safety standards, and food manufacturing safety practices.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage relationships across diverse teams and locations.
Travel Requirements:
- This role requires regular travel to our manufacturing facilities across USA and Canada.
